San Bushman Ostrich Egg Shell Earrings

Made by the Tsodilo Hills San clan in northern Botswana.

Each bead is entirely made by hand. The broken bits of ostrich egg shells are shaped and drilled without using any power tools. The colored disks are ostrich egg shell, dyed with local plant dyes. 

These weighty earrings are approximately 1 1/2" long and 2" wide.
